Introduction
Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a small mitogenic protein that is thought to be involved in mechanisms such as normal cell growth, oncogenesis, and wound healing. This protein shows both strong sequential and functional homology with human type-alpha transforming growth factor (hTGF alpha), which is a competitor for EGF receptor sites.
BP000179-CYT-217: Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Protein
Source: E. coli-derived.
A single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 53 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 6222 Dalton.
The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependant proliferation of murine BALB/c 3T3 cells (measured by 3H-thymidine uptake) is < 0.1 ug/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 1 x 10,000,000 Units/mg.
Purity: > 98% by SDS-PAGE and SEC-HPLC.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a con centrated (1 ug/ml) solution containing PBS pH-7.4.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Epidermal Growth Factor in sterile 18 M?-cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
BP000179-CYT-466: Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Protein (Leu-21)
Source: E. coli-derived.
N-terminal sequence analysis: Asn-Ser-Asp-Ser-Glu.
A single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 53 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 6205 Dalton.
The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependant proliferation of murine BALB/c 3T3 cells (measured by 3H-thymidine uptake) is < 0.1 ug/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 10 MUnits/mg.
Purity: > 98% by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC.
Formulation: lyophilized from a concentrated (1 ug/ml) solution with no additives.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Epidermal Growth Factor 21-Leu in sterile 18 M?-cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
12 months from date of receipt, -20 to -70°C as supplied.
1 month, 2 to 8°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
3 months, -20 to -70°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
