Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a small mitogenic protein that is thought to be involved in mechanisms such as normal cell growth, oncogenesis, and wound healing. This protein shows both strong sequential and functional homology with human type-alpha transforming growth factor (hTGF alpha), which is a competitor for EGF receptor sites. A single polypeptide chain containing 77 amino acids (977-1029) and having a molecular mass of 8.6 kDa. EGF is fused to a 24 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus.
Purity: > 90% by SDS-PAGE.
Formulation: The EGF solution (0.5 mg/ml) contains 20 mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.0), 100 mM NaCl, 2 mM DTT and 10% glycerol.
