Introduction
Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a small mitogenic protein that is thought to be involved in mechanisms such as normal cell growth, oncogenesis, and wound healing. This protein shows both strong sequential and functional homology with human type-alpha transforming growth factor (hTGF alpha), which is a competitor for EGF receptor sites.

A single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 53 amino acids including 3 intramolecular disulfide-bonds and having a molecular mass of 6 kDa.
The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependant proliferation of murine BALB/c 3T3 cells (measured by 3H-thymidine uptake) is < 0.1 ug/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 10 MUnits/mg.
Purity: > 97% by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a concentrated (1 ug/ml) solution containing 1x PBS pH-7.4.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Epidermal Growth Factor in sterile 18 M?-cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
