Introduction
Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a small mitogenic protein that is thought to be involved in mechanisms such as normal cell growth, oncogenesis, and wound healing. This protein shows both strong sequential and functional homology with human type-alpha transforming growth factor (hTGF alpha), which is a competitor for EGF receptor sites. EGF is a small 53 amino acid residue long protein that contains three disulfide bridges.

A single, glycosylated, polypeptide chain having a molecular mass of 6.1 kDa.
The biological activity is measured in a proliferation assay using BALB/MK cells.
Purity: > 98% by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a concentrated (1 ug/ml) solution containing 0.01 M sodium acetate buffer.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Epidermal Growth Factor in sterile 18 MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
