Introduction
Il-6 is a cytokine with a wide variety of biological functions: it plays an essential role in the final differentiation of b-cells into ig-secreting cells, it induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth, it induces nerve cells differentiation, in hepatocytes it induces acute phase reactants.

A single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 187 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 21732 Dalton.
N-terminal sequence analysis: Met-Phe-Pro-Thr-Ser.
The ED50 = 0.03-0.1 ug/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 10-34 MIU/mg. The biological activity is determined by measuring the dose-dependant proliferation of IL-6 dapendent B9 cells. A concentration range of 0.1 to 10.0 ug/ml is effective for most in vitro applications.
Purity: > 95% by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC.
Formulation: Lyophilized without any additives.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Interleukin-6 in 100 mM acetic acid to 1.0 ug/ml and incubated for 30 minutes at room temperature to regain full activity, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
