Introduction
Il-6 is a cytokine with a wide variety of biological functions: it plays an essential role in the final differentiation of b-cells into ig-secreting cells, it induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth, it induces nerve cells differentiation, in hepatocytes it induces acute phase reactants.

A single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 185 amino acids and migrates at 22 kDa.
The activity was measured in a cell prolifiration assay using B9 cells. The ED50 for this effect is 0.008-0.02 ug/ml corresponding to a Specific Activity of 50-125 MIU/mg.
Purity: > 97% by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a solution containing Phosphate- Buffered Saline pH-7.4.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Interleukin-6 in sterile 18 M?-cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
