Introduction
Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) is a lymphoid factor that promotes long-term maintenance of embryonic stem cells by suppressing spontaneous differentiation. Leukemia Inhibitory Factor has several functions such as cholinergic neuron differentiation, control of stem cell pluripotency, bone & fat metabolism, mitogenesis of factor dependent cell lines & promotion of megakaryocyte production in vivo. Human and mouse LIFs exhibit a 78% identity in their amino acid sequences.
BP000092-CYT-645: Recombinant Mouse Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) Protein
Source: E. coli-derived.
Predicted molecular mass: 20 kDa.
Activity of murine LIF was determined by its ability to induce differentiation of murine M1myeloid leukemic cells. Min. detectable conc. of murine LIF in this specific bioassay was found to be 0.5 ug/ml. The specific activity is 100 MIU/mg, where 50 U is defined as the amount of murine LIF required to induce differentiation in 50% of the M1 colonies per ml of agar culture.
Purity: > 95% by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a concentrated (1 ug/ml) sterile solution containing 20 mM Phosphate buffer pH-7.4 and 0.02% Tween-20.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) in sterile water not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
12 months from date of receipt, -20 to -70°C as supplied.
1 month, 2 to 8°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
3 months, -20 to -70°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
