Introduction
DNA polymerase alpha catalytic subunit is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the POLA1 gene. Pol ? has limited processivity and lacks 3? exonuclease activity for proofreading errors. Thus it is not well suited to efficiently and accurately copy long templates (unlike Pol Delta and Epsilon). Instead it plays a more limited role in replication. Pol ? is responsible for the initiation of DNA replication at origins and during lagging-strand synthesis of Okazaki fragments.

Form of Antibody: Rabbit IgG in phosphate buffered saline (without Mg2+ and Ca2+), pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol.
Storage/Stability: Stable for 1 year at -20°C and 3 months at 4°C. For maximum recovery of the product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and before removing the cap. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
