Background
Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion molecules that mediate cell-cell binding in a homophilic manner. They play an important role in the growth and development of cells via the mechanisms of control of tissue architecture and the maintenance of tissue integrity. Cadherin expression is regulated spatially as well as temporally. Cadherins are thought to play an important role in development and maintenance of tissues through selective cell-cell adhesion activity and may be involved also in the invasion and metastasis of malignant tumors. Cadherin regulates dendritic spine morphogenesis. A cadherin gene cluster is mapped to a region of chromosome 5 subject to frequent allelic loss in carcinoma.

Mouse Monoclonal Antibody.
Specificity/Sensitivity: Human, mouse, rat, rabbit, chicken,snake. No cross reactivity with other proteins.
Applications: Western blot: At 1-2ug/ml with the appropriate system to detect pan-cadherin in cells and tissues. Immunohistochemistry(P): At 2-4ug/ml to detect pan-cadherin in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues.
Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Rabbit, Chicken, Snake.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal amino acids of chicken N-Cadherin with an extra N-terminal lysine residue (24amino acids) coupled to KLH.
Purification: Purified by the goat anti-mouse IgG affinity chromatography.
Form of Antibody: Lyophilized from 1.2% sodium acetate, with 2 mg BSA and 0.01 mg NaN3 as preservative.
Clone: PC-79.
Isotype: Mouse IgG1.
Storage/Stability: Stable for 1 year at -20°C and 3 months at 4°C. For maximum recovery of the product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and before removing the cap. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
