Introduction
Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 (BMP-2) is one of the bone-growth regulatory factors that belong to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily of proteins. BMPs are synthesized as large precursor molecules, which are cleaved by proteolytic enzymes. The active form of BMP-2 can consist of a dimer of two identical proteins or a heterodimer of two related bone morphogenetic proteins.

A homodimeric, non-glycosylated, Polypeptide chain containing 115 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 26018 Dalton.
The ED50 as determined by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC-5 cells is 0.5-1.0 ug/ml.
Purity: > 95% by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a concentrated (1 ug/ml) sterile solution containing 10 mM sodium citrate pH=3.5.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 in sterile 100 mM AcOH (acetic Acid) not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
