Background
The VIM gene was one of many that Gieser and Swaroop (1992) recovered from a subtracted cDNA library for retinal pigment epithelium. Vimentin gene express in human lymphocytes and in Burkitt's lymphoma cells. Vimentin is secreted by activated macrophages.

Specificity/Sensitivity: Human, mouse, rat. No cross reactivity with other proteins.
Applications: Western blot: At 0.5-1 ug/ml with the appropriate system to detect vimentin in cells and tissues. Immunohistochemistry(P): At 1.5-2.5ug/ml to detect vimentin in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues.
Reactivity: Human, Rat.
Immunogen: Pig eye lens vimentin.
Purification: Purified by the goat anti-mouse IgG affinity chromatography.
Form of Antibody: Lyophilized from 1.2% sodium acetate, with 2 mg BSA and 0.01 mg NaN3 as preservative.
Clone: VMT-24.
Isotype: Mouse IgG1.
Storage/Stability: Stable for 1 year at -20°C and 3 months at 4°C. For maximum recovery of the product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and before removing the cap. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
