Description

Introduction:
N-acetylglucosamine kinase (NAGK) also known as N-acetyl-D-glucosamine kinase and GlcNAc kinase, belongs to the eukaryotic-type N-acetylhexosamine kinases family. NAGK is a Homodimer and expressed in mang tissues. NAGK is a prominent salvage enzyme of amino sugar metabolism in mammals. It is a major component of complex carbohydrates and converts GlcNAc into GlcNAc 6-phosphate from lysosomal degradation or nutritional sources. In addition, NAGK has ManNAc kinase activity.
