BS044A Endotoxin Measurement Service 1 sample 295.00
Description

Endotoxins are frequent contaminants in plasmid DNA and protein prepared from bacteria, and must be removed from the DNA or protein to avoid unwanted inflammatory responses prior to in vivo applications.

The presence of endotoxin or lipopolysaccharide (LPS) can be sentitively detected by the Limulus Amebocyte Lysate assay, utilizing blood from the Horseshoe crab. Very low levels of LPS can cause coagulation of the limulus lysate due to a powerful amplification through an enzymatic cascade. The test was accepted by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1983.

We provide a custom endotoxin measurement service for DNA and protein samples. Bacterial endotoxin levels in submitted samples are measured with an industry-standard Chromogenic Detection Assay that utilizes Limulus Amebocyte Lysate and a chromogenic substrate. This microplate assay has a maximum sensitivity of 0.01 EU/mL (Endotoxin Units per milliliter).
