Introduction
Defensins form a family of microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides made by neutrophils. Members of the defensin family are highly similar in protein sequence. This gene encodes defensin, beta 103A, which has broad spectrum antimicrobial activity and may play an important role in innate epithelial defense.

Source: E. coli-derived.
A single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 41 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 4.6 kDa. The BD-3 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
The specific ativity is measured by its antimicrobial activity against E. coli. The ED50 for this effect is typically 4-20 ug/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 50,000-250,000 units/mg.
Purity: > 98% by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC.
Formulation: The Mouse BD-3 was lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Beta Defensin-3 in sterile 18 M?-cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
