Background
Amyloid precursor protein (APP) is an integral membrane protein expressed in many tissues and concentrated in the synapses of neurons. Its primary function is not known, though it has been implicated as a regulator of synapse formation, neural plasticity and iron export. APP is best known and most commonly studied as the precursor molecule whose proteolysis generates beta amyloid (A?), a 39-to 42-amino acid peptide whose amyloid fibrillar form is the primary component of amyloid plaques found in the brains of Alzheimer's disease patients. APP undergoes posttranslational proteolytic processing by alpha-, beta-, and gamma-secretases. Alpha-secretase generates soluble amyloid protein, while betaand gamma-secretases generate APP components with amyloidogenic features. These 2 processing pathways are mutually exclusive.

Applications: APP antibody has been tested by ELISA and Western blot analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Since application varies, however, each investigation should be titrated by the reagent to obtain optimal results. Recommended dilution range for Western blot analysis is 1:1,000 ~ 2,000. Recommended starting dilution is 1:1,000.
Reactivity: Human.
Immunogen: Anti-human APP mAb, is derived from hybridization of mouse F0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from BALB/c mice immunized with recombinant human APP amino acids 18-289 purified from E. coli.
Purification: APP antibody was purified from mouse ascitic fluids by protein-G affinity chromatography.
Form of Antibody: 1 ug/ml containing PBS, pH-7.4, & 0.1% Sodium Azide.
Clone: PJ4H9AT.
Isotype: Mouse IgG2b.


Storage/Stability: Stable for 1 year at -20°C and 3 months at 4°C. For maximum recovery of the product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and before removing the cap. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
