Background
The microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) coassemble with tubulin into microtubules in vitro.Microtubule-associated protein tau appears to be enriched in axons. Tau are composed of 352 to 441 amino acids. The isoforms differ from each other by the presence or absence of 29-amino acid or 58-amino acid inserts located in the N terminus and a 31-amino repeat located in the C terminus. tau is important in establishing and maintaining neuronal morphology and is a major component of the neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) characteristic of Alzheimer's brain. Microtubule-associated protein tau (MTBT1) is mapped to chromosome 17q21.

Specificity/Sensitivity: Human, mouse, rat. No cross reactivity with other proteins.
Applications: Western blot: At 0.5-1 ug/ml with the appropriate system to detect Tau in cells and tissues. Immunohistochemistry(P): At 1-2?g/ml to detect Tau in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues.
Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat.
Immunogen: Bovine microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs).
Purification: Purified by the goat anti-mouse IgG affinity chromatography.
Form of Antibody: Lyophilized from 1.2% sodium acetate, with 2 mg BSA and 0.01 mg NaN3 as preservative.
Clone: TAU-93.
Storage/Stability: Stable for 1 year at -20°C and 3 months at 4°C. For maximum recovery of the product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and before removing the cap. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
