Background
Ueyama et al. (1990) assigned the ACTSA gene to chromosome 10 by Southern blot analysis of DNAs from 18 rodent-human somatic cell hybrids. Regional mapping by in situ hybridization localized the gene to 10q22-q24.Assignment of the vascular smooth muscle actin gene ACTSA to human chromosome .Smooth muscle alpha-actin gene requires two E-boxes for proper expression in vivo and is a target of class I basic helix-loop-helix proteins.

Applications: Western blot: At 2 ug/ml with the appropriate system to detect α-SMA in cells and tissues. Immunohistochemistry(P): At 0.5-1 ug/ml to detect α-SMA in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues. Immunohistochemistry(F): At 1-2 ug/ml to detect α-SMA in formalin or acetone fixed tissues.
Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat.
Immunogen: N-terminal synthetic decapeptide ofα-smooth muscle actin.
Purification: Purified by the goat anti-mouse IgG affinity chromatography.
Form of Antibody: Lyophilized from 1.2% sodium acetate, with 2 mg BSA and 0.01 mg NaN3 as preservative.

Isotype: Mouse IgG2a.
Storage/Stability: Stable for 1 year at -20°C and 3 months at 4°C. For maximum recovery of the product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and before removing the cap. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
