Description

Introduction
Nuclear Factor kappa B, a transcription factor complex, is ubiquitously expressed in almost all animal cells and involved in cellular responses to various stimuli, such as stress, cytokines, free radicals, bacterial or viral antigens, and etc. Specially, NF-kB plays a key role in the regulation of immune responses. It is kept in cytoplasm by specific inhibitors. Upon degradation of inhibitors after stimulation, NF-kB translocate into nucleus and activate downstream gene expression. NF-kB is composed of NF-kB1 or NF-kB2 bound to either REL, RELA or RELB. The most abundant heterdimeric NF-kB is NF-kB1 complexed with RELA.
