Introduction:
Interleukin-18 receptor 1 also known as CD218a, IL1RRP and IL18R1, belongs to the interleukin-1 receptor family. IL18R1 is a single-pass type I membrane protein and contains three Ig-like C2-type domains and one TIR domain. IL18R1 is widely expressed in many tissues, High expression in Hodgkin disease cell lines. IL-18R1 induces synthesis and release of IFN-gamma, IL8, IL4 and IL13, TNF-alpha and granulocyte/macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF). In addition, IFN-alpha and IL12 are reported to induce the expression of IL18R1 in NK and T cells.
