Introduction
17-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 13, also known as Short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase 9, SCDR9, 17-beta-HSD 13 and HSD17B13, is a secreted protein which belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family. HSD17B13 is highly expressed in the liver. Thus it also detected in ovary, bone marrow, kidney, brain, lung, skeletal muscle, bladder and testis. HSD17B13 contains an ORF with a length of 900 bp, encoding a protein with a signal peptide sequence and an adh_short domain.
