Introduction:
Procollagen galactosyltransferase 2 also known as GLT25D2, Glycosyltransferase 25 family member 2 and Hydroxylysine galactosyltransferase 2, belongs to the Glycosyltransferase 25 family. GLT25D2 is expressed in brain and skeletal muscle, located in endoplasmic reticulum lumen. Glt25D2 has a strong beta-galactosyltransferase activity toward various types of collagen , but does not have glucosyltransferase activity. It transfers beta-galactose to hydroxylysine residues on collagen.
