Introduction
Dolichyl-phosphate beta-glucosyltransferase, also known as DolP-glucosyltransferase and ALG5, belongs to the glycosyltransferase 2 family. ALG5 is a single-pass type II membrane protein and located in Endoplasmic reticulum membrane. It expressed in pancreas, placenta, kidney, skeletal muscle, liver, heart, brain and lung. ALG5 participates in glucosylation of the oligomannose core in N-linked glycosylation of proteins. The addition of glucose residues to the oligomannose core is necessary to ensure substrate recognition.
