Description

Introduction
Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) is a lymphoid factor that promotes long-term maintenance of embryonic stem cells by suppressing spontaneous differentiation. Leukemia Inhibitory Factor has several functions such as cholinergic neuron differentiation, control of stem cell pluripotency, bone & fat metabolism, mitogenesis of factor dependent cell lines & promotion of megakaryocyte production in vivo. Human and mouse LIFs exhibit a 78% identity in their amino acid sequences.

BP000092-GPF-001: Recombinant Murine Leukemia Inhibitory Factor Protein, GST tag

Source: E. coli-derived.
mLIF supplement is assessed both on mESCs and on murine M1 myeloid leukemic cells. A standard of 50 units is defined as the concentration of mLIF supplement in 1.0 ml of tissue culture medium that induces the differentiation of 50% of M1 colonies (Metcalf, 1988).
Embryonic Stem Cell Assay: Differentiation inhibition at 1000 units/ml.
Murine myeloid leukemic M1 Assay: Specific Activity >108 units/mg.
Purity: > 95% by SDS-PAGE.
Formulation: Dissolved in solution with PBS, pH 7.3 and 0.1% BSA (w/v). BSA serves as a protein carrier for stability.
Concentration: 107 units/ml.
